Pro/Server - 8/1/2006

Today’s class went remarkably well – covering three chapters in full and letting out just over an hour early!  Great job today.  A lot of information today has been covered before, so there is NO excuse for not knowing it!!!

Chapter Six covered file/network permissions; Dfs and setting up and troubleshooting printers.  Seven covered the configuration of hardware devices, driver signing (Ignore, Warn and Block, Kim!) and working with Device Manager in order to determine what devices aren’t working properly and then what to do about it (restart, reinstall drivers, update drivers, etc.)  Finally, Chapter 8 dealt with Optimizing your computer in order to provide reliability to your end users.  While this is a repeat from the Pro book, this chapter is especially important to the Server environment since bottlenecks effect (affect?) performance from clients too.  And upset clients means upset users, and upset users mean less Freecell time!

Look for a test on 8/15…

Homework:
  • Chapter Six – Multiple Choice Questions and the Lab

  • Chapter Seven – Multiple Choice Questions ONLY

  • Chapter Eight – Multiple Choice Questions and the Lab
