My hungry self was in overdrive for the afternoon class today, and we ran through Chapter 8, which was all about Group Administration.  Remember the different types of groups and the scopes of groups that are out there.  It’s really important!

Implementing NI - 10/26/2006

This morning was kind of a weird morning.  It started out with a test in the library, and then moved to about 50 minutes of classtime (Chapter 9, WINS) around 9 o’clock.  I then had to go to a meeting which lasted promptly until the next class’s start time.  Ugh.

We finished the book in today’s class too.  Next week, we’ll have a test over everything (we’ll review first), and then we’ll talk about (and possibly start) our computer repair component.

Tonight we talked about Chapter 5, which was consumer behavior.  We looked at several of the factors that play into how a customer comes to the purchasing decision and discussed a few ways that marketers try to manipulate those.

This afternoon we installed Windows 2000 and VMWare.  Next week, we will reattempt our failed Windows NT4 installation and talk about Windows 2000.  Can’t you guys wait until we talk about Windows XP AND install it at the same time?  Wow, has that even happened yet?

Windows 2000 OS/Networking - 10/11/2006

Today’s class covered Chapters 8 and 9 – Network Administration and Accounts/Groups.  

Also!  The computers in our lab have VMWare installed on them, which means we’ll actually be able to install an operating system and play around with some of the things we’ve been discussing.  Really cool news.

Scott Duvall from Holland CPAs was our guest of honor today, and I feel he did a good job of summing up what he does at Holland and gave you guys a pretty decent picture of what the job outlook is for today.  

Our planned project of installing Windows Me after Scott left was finished in the morning, so after his presentation, we called it a day!  See you guys next week!

Unfortunately, Josh Smith from Peterbilt was unable to join us for class today due to some last minute training that came up.  So we just took our test and then did the Software project a little early – installing Windows Me!  Woo!

We also did Chapter Three in the AD class today.  We covered various AD tools at our disposal such as the Schema MMC snap-in (make sure you know how to do this guys!!!), Task Scheduler, and other stuff too.

Implementing Network Infrastructure - 9/28/2006

Today we covered Chapter 3, which was implementing TCP/IP.  We walked through how to install the TCP/IP stack (although it was already installed for us when we installed Server) and then played with several of the TCP/IP tools in class.
